Projects

The "National Presidential Caucus for 2012 Primary Reform": the first project of the Open Caucus Institute to convene leaders of rule making bodies.

2012 Project: Broad collaboration promoting 2012 primary calendar reform focused in 2009/2010 on both Republican and Democratic Party primary Change Commissions.

On June 24th, a campaign, the National Caucus for 2012 Reform, was launched to elevate awareness and to push for meaningful reform the next presidential primary in 2012. Key changes are that it should start later and not last as long as in 2008. We also advocate for other changes to make the country's primary/caucus system more orderly, fair and inclusive. Further, the NPC is dedicated to fostering an ongoing process of deliberation for beneficial change.

Our first act was to convene a key bi-partisan leadership group in New York City to join in calling for reform, including:

- Bob Bennett, OH GOP State Chair & author of partially adopted Ohio Plan
- Jim Roosevelt, Chair Democratic Party Rules Committee
- David Norcross, Chair Republican Part Rules Committee
- Michael A. Mauro, Iowa Secretary of State, co-chair National Association of Secretaries of State
- Don Means, Director of the National Caucus for 2012 Primary Reform.
